Legend of Zelda: Terrible Fate Chapter 1

"In a land far far away, a long time ago in an age of peace… There echoes a legend about a Hero who saved a beautiful princess, from a king of evil…. Who freed the land from darkness and tyranny… And restored freedom and justice to the land with the help of his trusted friend, but when the time came the savior's had to go their separate ways… But goodbye's aren't forever… hmhmhmhmhmhm…"

Link walked through the gates of Hyrule Castle with a cloak over his head. Link's popularity had simmered down over the years, but he still drawled attention to himself when round and about. He had tried to change his clothes, looks, really anything he could try to go unnoticed. Sadly even a blind person could still recognize him. He was greeted at the entrance by a short man with bugling glasses that were rounder than an actual circle, he wore only the nicest of clothing, and carried a journal or notebook made of the finest paper. He was Princess Zelda's Advisor, Count Richard. While to his left who towered over the small man was a man almost a foot taller than Link, he wore full silver body armor from head to toe, he carried multiple weapons similar if not exactly replicas of Link's when he was on his adventure to save Hyrule. He was a menacing looking person in his armor, but he was a humble man underneath, he only wore the armor in hope to scare off any challenging opponents. Link had never seen his sword skills, didn't know much of his origins, or if he was even a human being. Link was sure he slept in his armor, Link had only recalled one time in existence seeing him not in it, which was Zelda's idea to reassure everyone he was just an ordinary man.

"Lord Joseph,,," Link whispered as he approached. That was the name of Zelda's leading commander and usually personal bodyguard. Link had many mixed views about him, mostly around how he came from thin air and so stunningly found his way to his current position without anyone even seeing him use one of his gadgets. Zelda had reassured him, that he was indeed safe and where one has been in the past doesn't matter as much as where he was going.

"Sir Link! Nice to see you once more! It feels like it was only last week I saw you my boy!" Lord Joseph said, Link had forgot to mention he was also increasingly friendly.

"Nice to see you too again Lord Joseph, and I would like to point out I do come here weekly, every Wednesday to be correct." Link tried to say nicely as he continued to walk on. The two others followed.

"Yes! Of course! Ahahaha, and I already told you call me Joseph." Joseph said in a hardy voice.

Link forced a smile and a small laugh, "Only when you stop calling me Sir Link."

"Yes, yes, yes, now on to more important matters than your weekly chat with Lord Joseph Mr. Link…" Richard interrupted. "Since this marks the 10th anniversary that you save our beloved land, and its been a long and troublesome task rebuilding Hyrule. The Princess has decided to make a celebration this year, in your honor and to relieve the people from their constant work to reform Hyrule to its former glory." Richard babbled on about. Link sighed, this day had just gotten worse, because he knew he would be expected to show up and give maybe some speech, he hoped not. People were slowly forgetting about him and allowing him to return to his normal life as nothing but a rancher who live in Ordon, with his normal Ordonian wife, and two Ordonian children.

"Sounds excellent…" Link sarcastically said as he made his way to the balcony where Zelda was usually always waiting for him. Two guards opened the glass doors and Link was meet with the same gorgeous view of Hyrule every time he was on the balcony. Zelda was waiting for him in a chair drinking some tea it seemed.

"You may be excused Joseph and Richard…" Zelda said waving them on from behind. The two bowed and gracefully left. Link too k a seat on the opposite side of the small table that was between Zelda's chair and another. "So I am guessing you've heard the wonderful news already…" Zelda said gracefully as she drank from her cup.

"More or less, I am a bit surprised though. You know how much I resent my popularity." Link said as he sat back and looked upon the bright shining land.

"Yes, and I am sorry, but the people need a break. I always put my people first, and since they have much of their faith in you, I believe it would be necessary you be there." Zelda said to Link in a sincere voice.

"I guess, but once this thing's over, don't expect to see me in town for a while." Link stated as he poured himself a cup of tea himself. Zelda smiled happily, and turned to gaze at the majestic green lush field, with its numerous small creeks and rivers of gleaming bright blue water.

"The Celebration shall be at Week's end, it will commence on New Year's Day, I hope to see your family there, its been so long since I've seen Ilia, let alone your son John and daughter Azuela. Don't forget to bring the rest of the crowd too, there all invited as guests of honor." Zelda said with a smile and small giggle.

"Don't worry I…"

"Your highness, there is a problem, a salesman at the gates requests your presence." Joseph said bursting through the glass doors.

"Sorry Link, it seems our chat will be cut short today." Zelda said as she blushed a bit.

"No worries, I should be heading into town to get some supplies, but I'll come with you to meet this stranger." Link said, it seemed quite odd the guards or even Joseph would require the Princess to shoe off a salesmen from the Castle Gates. Link was sure there were probably more important matters she could have attended to. Nonetheless, they all went to meet the stranger salesmen, who gave them all sort of a shock. When Joseph said stranger, he believe he meant to say strange. The Salesmen had no eyes it seemed, because they were so closed shut from his bright smile that gave Link a chill down his spine. Along with that the man wore purple suit, with a large backpack with multiple creepy, happy, and sad masks.

"Hello stranger I am Princess…"

"Oh I know who you are, hmhmhmhm!" The Happy Mask Salesman said with a creepy hum. Link could tell this guy was far from normal and wondered if it was safe for Zelda to be this close to him. "I am the Happy Mask Salesmen, I heard there will be a carnival in town at week's end yes?"

"Yes, well more of a celebration, but still yes."  Zelda replied trying to not offend him by not being too freaked out by his creepy smile.

"Excellent! I was hoping I could set up shop here and sell some of my masks for the carnival." The Happy Mask Salesmen asked.

"Of of course, I will sent a messegner to find you a suitable location to sell your masks…"

"Oh no need, hmhmhmhmhmhm. I already know where to go." He began walking off back towards town until he stopped and turned. "Hmhmhmhmhmhmhm, you have yet to met a terrible fate…" He said before disappearing off into town.

"Creepy little bastard eh?" Joseph shouted to end the silence.

"Joseph! That is down right rude, he's just irregular…" Zelda said trying to find a nice set of words to describe the man.

"Didn't know rumor's about the celebration were already out and about." Link commented.

"Which is strange in truth, That was an idea I had merely thought of this morning, and had only told you, Joseph and Richard. Both of which wouldn't dared spill the secret yet I hope…" Zelda said in a threatening tone.

"I swear your highness, I said nothing to no one, and neither has Richard. In truth he was a pretty strange guy, he demanded to see you, and he was just giving some creepy chills. I wasn't sure what to suspect if I told him no." Joseph said in his and Richard's defense.

"I think we're missing the weirdest part guys, he said one of us has yet to meet a terrible fate." Link noticed Joseph and Zelda were staring at him weird now.

"I never heard him say that. All he asked about was the carnival and walked off." Zelda said puzzled by Link who's face merely became contorted.

"Oh no…"
